I have been having problems with internet connection for over 7 months. The service is terrible.
1 - I have to go through the same questions everytime I call.
2 - In the last week alone I have spent over 4 hrs on the phone to them.
3 - One of the calls was put though to Customer Service in I presume S Africa, I was told that they needed to look into my account and put me on hold only to be answered by someone in India. I was then transferred back to S Africa and the same happened. A call of 1.5 hrs resulted in nothing.
4 - I was put though to their Warrington office once and the fault was fixed with a promise of a call back - it never happened and the fault came back that week.
I could go on and on. I am still having issues, nobody owns the problem and their is no continuity.
What should I do???

Tell us about other ISPs :: Talk Talk as a hosting company

Subject: Talk Talk as a hosting company
Talk Talk acquired Pipex Dial, my web hosting service provider. There were no improvements made to the service, in fact it gradually got worse. There were technical issues that never got resolved, crippling some of the capabilities. The price was roughly two or three times the average charged by other hosting providers, but transferring to another provider looked like a lot of work - changing email, redeveloping my web site to purge it of Pipex-specific capabilities etc.

Things REALLY took a dive when they cocked up my automatic credit card payment. They couldn't process my credit cards and told me to pay by bank transfer. They then mislaid the payment (despite evidence of the transfer going through). They then suspended my service and told me if I paid AGAIN it would be available within two days maximum. I paid again, reluctantly, but then got told my account was permanently deleted and they were no longer offering the service I had paid for - but wouldn't offer me an alternative from a sister company. Needless to say I didn't get any of my money back and they still haven't been able to either get my site back up or allow me to transfer the IPS tag to another service provider. They never phone back when they say they would and have continually given me untrue, contradictory or misleading information.

My advice to anyone hosting with Pipex Dial is to get out quick! The service is not being adequately supported and it is incredibly expensive for what you get. If the management of Pipex Dial is indicative of Opal Business hosting capabilities under that or their other brand names, I'd steer clear of them. I have been happy with the service I have received from other companies I have used for hosting, Freezone and Ecohosting to name but two.

Applied in february for broadband already had aol and a talk talk line. Cut off aol in march so now have no broadband. 5 cancelled orders and discussions all over the world, driven in sane no idea what is going on. Last person says we might as well go to another provider as they cannot get it to work as a technical fault exists but now it isnt it is an admin fault and on & on it goes. If I plug in the router for aol or talk talk it shows I have DSL but both companies say I have not and if I have niether of them are supplying it? It says on my thompson that it is manually disconnected? Now on a dongle I want any broadband as it is crap . Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it? Help we are going mad....by the way as a tease they rang me to say it was connected in April but I had no router and now they are denying they called. Who the hell deals with these problems and can they really screw it up like this and try and walk away???

This is my experience.
I bought a new computer at the beginning of May and my existing Tiscali supplied modum would not work with the new pc. Phoned Tiscali helpline - they would supply me with a router. Somehow spoke to a guy in sales at Talk Talk at this time. He offered me a joint broadband/landline deal (18.48? a month). I agreed. I had previously had a talk talk landline supply and a tiscali broadband.
New router came quickly, however after many calls to helplines, mostly nice folk in Mumbai, we concluded that this wireless router would only work with a cable. That is, NOT wireless. But broadband working.
About this time I realised that my telephone was changed. I couldn't access messages (1471 and 1571 without some code and I didn't know the code nor did any helplines - yes plenty more loops of music waiting for phones to be answered). Variously people said they would sort the phone out quickly or maybe it will take a week. Then realised that I wasn't receiving any incoming calls. Again passed this on to Talk Talk helplines. "We'll sort it out sir"
OK been away for 3 weeks and back for 3 weeks and 2 weeks ago my phone went dead. So no phone and no home broadband now ( I bought a dongle as a result of being told my account would be credited 90pounds to cover these problems - although I'm really not sure what or where my account is!).
I have spoken to lots of people in the options team in Northampton - they listen and are sympathetic and appear to be genuinely trying to help. But I am borrowing a mobile from work and must have chalked up 8 or 9 hours of calls.
I decide last night to ask for them to return to my previous arrangement as they had clearly failed to fulfill their part of the contract. However the same Talk Talk number response had changed and somehow I got through to a Tiscali operator, who told me that my broadband and telephone were still operative with them................ she passed me to customer services for Talk Talk, long wait, then an irritable woman in South Africa told me that it is nothing to do with them "You have to understand, sir, that we are not your suppliers, I will explain again the relationship between Tiscali, Talk Talk Aol and Onetel............."
OK then discovered that although I had been billed for years from Talk Talk for my phone, actually it was One tel who supplied it and i need to start talking to them as to why my phone has been cut off "have you not been paying your bills, sir?"
Anyway, nice Alistair in Belfast at Onetel checked my line and said there was an exchange fault. He couldn't arrange an engineer till Monday morning. We'll see, I really don't know what to do if this become complex and time consuming as well. I am presently very keen to damage Talk Talks reputation as much as possible...but even now all I really want is my service back.

So here I am exactly 2 months after being promised a very easy transfer to another supplier who I discover is the same supplier with a different name, whose various guises seem reluctant to Talk Talk to each other to resolve a customers problems. I am patient tolerant and reasonable but jeesh everyone has a breaking point, and I'm close..........................

One of the suspects why is this happening is just because of error connection. It doesn't just meet the exact connection speed that you need especially when you're having visited some site like facebook. It is really reliable and speedy in service.

I am using outlook 2007 on my laptop in Bulgaria. I can receive talktalk emails but cannot send them. Having attempted to send Outlook continues trying to send even after the emails have been deleted from the outbox. I have no problems with gmail also though Outlook. Any advice welcome. I need to clear the phantom emails from Outlook. I would ditch talktalk emails as I think they are rubbish, but my wife continue to use them and if she replies with out switching to sending through gmail. Problems arise!! I wish I'd stayed with Pipex, I only had billing problems with them never email problems. Since being with talktalk email problems abound!

Have just come back from a friends house having spent 3 hours trying to connect to their broadband! Also spoent about an hour on the phone to Delhi speaking to some clueless folk who couldnt even speak english.

I was wandering if any one can help and suggest the next steps as customer service is a waste of time with Talk Talk it seems.

Basically was trying to connect using a vista laptop to a EchoLife HG520s router. It seemed to connect but no world symbol on the network icon and it said unidentified network, local access only or similar. This happened with both wireless and LAN connection with ethernet cable to router. No internet pages could be accessed and also no access to the router on 192.168.1.1 with a broken page. All router lights power, wlan, adsl and internet are on. There is a crackle on the phone line when the router is switched on which goes completely when you switch off the router. Tried 3 different adsl filters with same noise on every one and no internet. Was working fine til sunday and no changes were made except microsoft updates installed automatically i think. There has always been a crackle on the line and broadband used to work fine.

Any idea what can be done next as the next time my mate calls Talk Talk will be to cancel his service...

Ah....so that probably explains why I haven't been receiving emails from work and why my manager is playing holy f**k about my not responding!

I work part time for a company and part-time for myself....and it really is annoying when one is trying to earn a living and TalkTalk mess about with IP addresses and servers

Following on....I forget to mention the problems in trying to contact TalkTalk.

One one occasion, I tried to call them, on and off, for around 3 hours before my call was actually connected and I was held in a queue. I was getting messages telling me that there were 10 more calls before mine...then 9...then 8...etc....and as soon as my turn came round, the call was disconnected This happened 4 or 5 times in one day but I was still charged for the time I was held in the call queue.

On another occasion, I was in a queue for just short of an hour before I actually managed to speak to somebody (I remember making a note of the times) I think it was something like 52 minutes before I was connected with a customer support person

OK....so Tiscali is going/gone and is now TalkTalk. I was happy with Tiscali as it was - never had a problem with them. That all changed when I went from Tiscali to TalkTalk.

First of all, I didn't get a router so I had to phone them at a cost to myself....then they sent a router that didn't work (faulty PSU) A further 3 calls to try and get a router from them before they sent me a working one

I had problems with account payments as well. Even though I was transferring from Tiscali to TalkTalk, they charged me a connection fee. Another phone call to them and they said it would be credited to my next bill - but it wasn't. Instead, I was charged an extra connection fee!! Another 2 calls to them and no money refunded - until mentioned Trading Standards and OFCOM - and my money was refunded within 24 hours.

My next problem was a letter that I received from TalkTalk confirming that my phone and broadband services would be terminated on 26th April 2010 - so I made another call to them. They told me that it was a 'computer error' and that my services would notbe terminated - but on 26th April, I had no telephone or broadband for 24 hours. It was getting really annoying as I'm self-employed and need the telephone and email

So, eventually had things sort of back to normal but I find that broadband connection is very slow, the email (AOL) that they provide is unreliable and very slow to relay messages and there is terrible interference on the telephone line

The latest cock-up is my last bill. It says that I am 'in credit' by £9.67 but TalkTalk have still taken the full amount from from my bank

I just use my Gmail account for emails now as it is more reliable.

I certainly wouldn't recommend TalkTalk to anybody!!

However the location has never actually been anywhere near where I live . Browserspy gives various locations, generally in Yorkshire or manchester. Do I have a problem or is this to do with the way talktalk allocates these IP addresses

A common cause for the bb dropping when the phone rings is a duff filter. Try replacing the filter or if you have more than one filter then remove them all and start adding them back on until your connection drops.

Hope this helps.
